Oracle of the Week - The Orákulum
The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind. I’ve said goodbye to my soul dog, drove across three states, hosted 2 parties, made at least 780 tamales and decorated my house for Christmas. So I’m relieved to get back to a routine with the Oracle of the Week.
So, without further ado, I have selected The Orákulum as the Oracle of the Week.
This incredibly beautiful deck was created by Anna Vojtas of @ohenhealing. I backed this project on Kickstarter (to no one’s surprise…really it’s a miracle I’m allowed on that website at all) in March and received the deck in November.
I’ve loved getting to know this deck. I’ll admit that I’m not usually a fan of collage-style art, but this deck is just too pretty to ignore. I also love a round card and the gold foil detail is so luxurious.
For today’s pull, I drew the the Serpent (transformation, healing and renewal). My life has certainly moved into a time of transformation and renewal. I lost my last 2 grandparents this year and my 16-year-old soul dog; I started a business to stretch my capacity for challenge and service; I committed to no fewer than 6 development programs to heal and learn and grow.
Paired with the 5 of Pentacles (scarcity, hardship) and the Page of Swords (communication, mental sharpness), I get the sense that the cards are acknowledging the loss I’ve experienced, that extra heavy silence that used to be filled with tiny paws scuttling after me everywhere I walked, but also reminding me that I can reclaim the brain power spent worrying about when and how my pup would choose to depart.
I have yet to make it through a day without a few tears for missing him, but I take comfort that he’s no longer hurting or confused. His energy is always here, guiding me and lending his support in whatever way he can. I am changing and learning who I am without spending my days taking care of him.
Transformation and rebirth through the alchemical process of grief. And it’s worth every second of it because I am better for having that dog in my life and so lucky I got to have him for so long.
